Schlüter Foundation Fellow 2026, Juyeon Jeong

In 2026 the Schlüter foundation supports three more students at World Maritime University with a grant for their research work and related travel expenses.

We would like to introduce our Schlüter Foundation Fellow Juyeon Jeong:

Juyeon Jeong is a maritime professional specializing in environmental administration and port sustainability. Graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Korea Maritime & Ocean University (KMOU), majoring in Green-Ship Technology and completed an exchange program at Aarhus School of Marine and Technical Engineering in Denmark, Juyeon has continued to broaden academic knowledge for sustainable and eco‑friendly maritime industry.

She has one year of research experience  at the Korean Register (KR), focusing on green‑ship technologies, emission‑reduction solutions, and IMO safety and environmental regulations. Since 2017, she has worked at Incheon Port Authority in Korea, supervising the LNG dual‑fueled ship for safety operations, supporting national Green‑ship policy implementation, and improving international ferry and cruise terminal operations to enhance environmental performance and passenger convenience.

Juyeon is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Maritime Affairs at the World Maritime University(WMU), focusing on Maritime Safety and Environmental Administration.

Her dissertation topic in WMU examines the feasibility of air‑pollution mitigation technologies and green policies at the ship–port interface through a case study in Europe. Her ultimate goal is contributing to a sustainable marine environment as the sector moves toward achieving net‑zero emissions by 2050 in the shipping industry.
