- 1993 – 2001 Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft, until 1995 information technology, after that Head of Basic Structuring. Responsible for the introduction of scientifically sound design methods in industrial practice
- Since 2001 professor at TU-Hamburg-Harburg, Head of the Institute for Ship and Ship Safety Design
