Schlüter Foundation Fellows 2024 at WMU, Sweden

Since hosting the International Symposium on the topic of anthropogenic underwater noise in 2019, the Schlüter Foundation has continued to focus on this issue and decided to concentrate on developing countries in its further pursuit of the topic.

In 2024, the WMU announced “Radiated Underwater Noise” for the first time as a possible topic for final theses. The Schlüter Foundation then selected three interested students to receive a grant to support their follow-up work and related travel expenses.

We would like to introduce the supported fellows and their dissertations here:

-Swabra Abdulrahman from Kenya with the topic: “Critical valuation of the implementation of IMO’s guidelines for the reduction of underwater radiated noise: a Kenyan perspective”

-Gonzalo Antonio Jiménez Briones from Chile with the topic: “Underwater noise in Chilean jurisdictional waters : critical assessment of national legislation : IMO instruments and international regulations implementation”
